Keep your hard-earned stokvel money safe and out of the hands of the baddies

The perpetrators managed to escape, prompting police to open fire at the car.

A sound warning has been issued to all residents, who will be collecting their stokvel money, to be extra vigilant.
This comes after a woman was robbed last week of R50 000 in stokvel money that she had kept in her home in Lindelani.
According to the Dundee SAPS Communications officer, Captain Mbhense, three men, two of whom were armed, entered the victim’s house, threatened and made off with R50 000.
They made their getaway in a Toyota vehicle. It is alleged that the robbers drove towards the Wasbank Road. “The police were contacted and Warrant Officer Beharie and Sergeant Kemp responded,” said Captain Mbhense, adding that the suspects were found in a house near Tholeni ‘sharing the money’.
The perpetrators managed to escape, prompting police to open fire at the car.
The men then abandoned the vehicle and made their getaway on foot.
A firearm, cellphone, duct-tape, ID documents, various registration number plates, jackets, T-shirts and R600 cash was found in the vehicle.
The car and firearm were taken in for finger-printing. A manhunt is continuing for the three men.
