Take a tour with Dundee Tourism
Tourism Dundee will be organising a tour of the area for anyone who wishes to join us.

Just how well do you know the history of the area around you?
On Saturday, November 25, you get to learn all about the area in which you live, and it’s free.
Tourism Dundee will be organising a tour of the area for anyone who wishes to join us.
Meet at the tourism office at 8:15am with the tour departing at 8:30am. Bring a chair and picnic lunch. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes and a hat if need be.
The tour is free – just come along and learn something about the area you live in.
Travel in your own vehicle (we will try to fill vehicles to keep the length of the group manageable) out towards the Wasbank valley.
Along the way you will visit memorials you didn’t know existed and hear the stories of the Voortrekkers making their way up Endumeni mountain, how the Biggarsberg mountains got their name and the story of the Wasbank valley. Stop at the Wasbank river to view the stones where the Voortrekkers washed their clothes. Then travel via the village of Wasbank and Telapi to Maria Ratschitz. This magnificent site at the base of Hlatikulu mountain has an amazing history and story. It’s the only church that had the Bible verses originally painted in Zulu on the walls. Admire the superb stained glass windows, carvings and walk in the peaceful grounds.
From here the tour returns to Dundee via Glenluce pass. Hear the stories of by-products and the fascinating accounts of Lootjie de Jager and Karel Landman who lived and farmed in this valley.
The guide, Pam McFadden, has spent a lifetime collecting the stories of this area, both the written and the local reminiscences of the local people and is eager to share them with you.
