High hopes for small businesses of Endumeni
Local small businesses were educated on how to apply for funding from various government institutions and banks.
The Endumeni Municipality successfully hosted the second Annual Endumeni Small Business Week which took place on November 23 – 24 at the Moth Hall in Dundee. According to the Mayor, Richard Mbatha, the purpose of this business event was to afford local small businesses with an opportunity to provide meaningful assistance to the community by emphasizing economic development and building stronger businesses.
“The two-day seminar will include networking activities, professional seminars, business opportunities and resource sharing planned for businesses of all sizes and all sectors,” said Mayor Mbatha. Mayor Mbatha said an inaugural event had been a resounding success and the council is committed that every year the event approach will change at the aspirant and established SMMEs within the District.

The event was blessed with a Gala Dinner that took place on November 23 at Ingudlane lodge in Dundee. Local small businesses were educated on how to apply for funding from various government institutions and banks. Local businesses were also given time to ask questions and clarity on business matters. Endumeni businesses were concerned about supply chain management from other government institutions and municipalities that are manipulated by officials so that it will favour friends and families when awarding tenders.

They also raised some concerns when it comes to applying for business funding from the banks. All questions were answered by presenters satisfactorily. The Speaker of the Council, Bongiwe Mbatha, thanked all people who participated in the seminar and urged women business people to support one another. Endumeni LED Manager who coordinated this seminar, Thulani Ndlovu told business people that in the next business meeting some of them will move from where they are as a result of the information they received from the seminar. Mayor Mbatha, councillors and officials were seen buying from one of the stalls as part of building the economy of the town.
