Accolades for Glencoe Primary’s best

Primary's finest young learners were honoured for their outstanding efforts and commitments throughout the year.

Glencoe Primary School held its annual Junior prize giving over three days last week and saw every learner from Grade 1 to Grade 3 receive an award for their outstanding efforts throughout the year. Merit awards, along with medals, were awarded to a few learners who particularly exceeded themselves.
Awards for “kind hearts”, “most improved”, “outstanding work” and so on were just some of the lovely praises the learners received.

The much-anticipated event for Grades 4-7 boasted an array of academic, sports and culture awards and Glencoe Primary’s finest young learners were honoured for their outstanding efforts and commitments throughout the year. The following are some of the awards that were won:
Sport and Culture Prizes:
Sport Boy of 2017: Siyanda Mbatha; Sport Girl of 2017: Alwande Mchunu; Voice of the year: Noncedo Mbatha; Best artistic ability: Leylah Nyembe.

English, Home Language: Tayyaba Khan (88%); Engels, Eerste Addisionele Taal: Louré van der Merwe (77%); Afrikaans, Huistaal: Louré van der Merwe (80%); Afrikaans, First Additional Language: Tayyaba Khan (90%); isiZulu, First Additional Language: Sinqobele Dlamini (72%);
Mathematics: Tayyaba Khan (93%); Natural Sciences: Tayyaba Khan (88%); Social Sciences: Shiven Raggo (93%);
Technology: Tayyaba Khan (92%); Economic and Management Sciences: Shiven Raggo (90%): Life Orientation: Tayyaba Khan (95%); Creative Arts: Shiven Raggo (95%).
Special Prizes:
Diligence: Alex Müller and Snenhlanhla Kunene; DUX 2017: Tayyaba Khan with an average of 91%; Leadership 2018: Head Prefects; Deputy Head Girl: Kayla Müller; Deputy Head Boy: Andiswa Mofokeng; Head Girl: Aphiwe Linda; Hostel Head Boy and School Head Boy: Lukhanyo Madlala.
