Colourful start to 67th Jukskei Championships
The colour run took place in sweltering heat, but everyone agrees that it was tremendous fun.

Several players from Sarel Cilliers, Dundee Junior, Dundee High and Amajuba make are in the KZN team at the Junior Jukskei Championships this week in Kroonstad. Daleen Roos, Karin Heroux, Zama Makhathini and Henko Van Reenen accompanied them as coaches and team managers. Sunday was a day of excitement and bonding. The colour run took place in sweltering heat, but everyone agrees that it was tremendous fun. The hamburgers eaten afterwards were homemade and absolutely yummy.
The KZN team had a small initiation for all the newbies, including officials. It was all great fun and the senior boys seemed very keen to wrap Mrs Heroux in toilet paper from head to toe.
The evening started off with the opening cermemony. Each team had a turn to march with their flagbearers to selected points. Anica Mostert and Thubelihle Luthuli were the flag bearers. The oaths of the players and officials were pledged and some players gave feedback of tours they had done to Namibia, Botswana and Cape Town.
After the opening, they had carols by candlelight, which was interrupted by a glorious thunderstorm. It was such a relief after such a sweltering day in the sun. Monday morning at 7:30am the first matches started and the teams play 6 in total.
Good luck to all the players. Black and white, dynamite!
