R20 000 reward offered for information leading to arrest of poisoning, house breaking gang

The latest crime wave to hit Dundee has been accompanied by vicious dog poisonings as robbers target homes in especially the Peacevale area and homes near the Colley Street Bridge and surrounds.
There have been reports of up to eight poisonings in the area and one in Dannhauser.
The outrage has prompted an anonymous local businessman to offer a R20 000 reward for positive information that will lead to the arrest of the culprits. Anyone with information can contact Detective Warrant Officer Jagath at 083 788 2337.
Another dog died last night and two others are seriously ill after robbers went on another spree in the Albert/Ann Street area.
An attempt was made to break in to one of the houses but the intruders were disturbed by the home owner and fled.
Unconfirmed reports said that shots were fired by the homeowner after three men attempted to break into a house on Hajee Jamal Street in the early hours of Thursday. A noise woke up the homeowner’s son who alerted his father. Three men – two of whom wore masks – were seen outside the house. Shots were fired and the men fled towards Craigside.
The police were soon at the scene and members of the 911 Neighbourhood Watch joined them but the men are yet to be apprehended.
