On November 29, parents and learners of ML Sultan Estcourt Primary School gathered for the Annual Speech and Awards function.
Mr A Bansilall was the Programme Director and Miss AED Appenah conducted the prayer. The Deputy Principal, Mrs KB Osman, welcomed the guests and appealed for parent co-operation.
The Principal, Mr DH Zuma delivered a detailed Principal’s Report of both curricula and co-curricular activities, which took place in this academic year. He also thanked parents and staff for all their support.
A special word of gratitude was mentioned to Miss NC Ngcobo for receiving an award at district level for the outstanding performance of the school’s choir. Karabo Motala delivered the farewell speech followed by Abenathi Nkabinde who did the valediction.
Ms JDS Gwala, HOD Intermediate Phase, presented certificates to learners who participated in Conquesta. She also thanked Ms Mayiwe from the Department of Transport for all her assistance. The Sports Boy award was presented to a young lad, Butho Miya, who displayed exceptional talent in various sporting codes.
The Sports Girl trophy was presented, in absentia, to an outstanding athlete, Mbalenhle Hlatshwayo who also represented the school at various events.

Learners from grade one to seven received awards for their outstanding academic achievement from each of their educators.
Grade seven learners received specific awards for each learning area. Karabo Motala was presented with the Good Fellowship Award in recognition of her leadership and consideration for others.
Fortunately her parents were present to share in the excitement.
The learner with the highest aggregate in grade seven is honoured to receive the most prestigious, Dux Award. This year the award was presented to Aphiwe Masondo for obtaining an average of 93 percent.
This excellent performance was crowned with the presentation of the Moola’s Scholars Choice Floating Trophy. Ms Gwala moved the vote of thanks. She thanked educators, learners and parents. Special thanks went to Moola’s Fashion House for their generous donation of trophies.
