R300K of CAT confiscated in CBD
Members of the Ulundi Task Team and Vryheid SAPS were conducting their Festive Season Operations in the area, when they noticed a suspicious-looking VW Polo travelling in the Vryheid CBD.
A 35-year-old man appeared in the Vryheid Magistrate’s Court on Friday for dealing in drugs.
The suspected dealer was arrested on December 6 during a special police operation.
Members of the Ulundi Task Team and Vryheid SAPS were conducting their Festive Season Operations in the area, when they noticed a suspicious-looking VW Polo travelling in the Vryheid CBD.

The vehicle was stopped and searched, and the driver was found in possession of CAT, contained in a transparent plastic bag. On further investigation, more drugs were found under the driver’s seat. The street value of the drugs is estimated at R300 000. It was later discovered that the suspect was out on bail after he was previously charged for possession of drugs.
The KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa, welcomed the arrest and the recovery of drugs in the Vryheid area. “I commend our members for their alertness and the dedication they showed while performing their Festive Season Operations. This proves our commitment in strengthening our efforts to bring down crime during this festive season. Such operations will continue in all parts of the province to ensure that those involved in criminal activities are brought to book,” he said.
