Christmas Day heralded with bundles of newborn joy

Christmas Day 2017 was a day of celebration for a handful of new mothers, who welcomed their bundles of joy into the world.

Local hospitals reported fewer babies born on Christmas Day, 2017.

On December 25, a total of five babies were born at Newcastle Provincial Hospital, with no births at Mediclinic Newcastle by mid-morning on Christmas Day.

Staff said this was a dramatic decrease from previous years.
