Good summer rains have transformed our landscape
It is again the green, green grass of home after 320mm of rain recorded in December in central Dundee

Good rains in recent weeks have turned the Endumeni into a lush green paradise. Thoughts of the drought seem far away as the Buffalo River swells beyond its banks in some places.

The fields are green and everyday it appears as if the old fashioned summer afternoon storms are back – a feature of our weather that has been missing for around three years as the drought took its grip.

Tom Worthington dam at Hattingspruit is reportedly full and the water lapping over the wall. The dam was a favourite playground on New Years Day as club members and day visitors from around the area flocked to the venue to enjoy a day out on the water.
Donald McHardy dam, near Glencoe, was only 10% full eight days ago – sources said newly built dams up stream would first have to over flow before the water can reach this dam.
Other dams in the area are much fuller than this time last year when water restrictions were the order of the day.
In some instances, the storms have been accompanied by unwelcome hail.
