Tasneem Sheik, a learner at Siratul Haq Islamic School obtained eight distinctions in her matric National Senior Certificate examinations.
She is the daughter of outgoing Principal and Imam of Estcourt Mosque and Madressa Trust (EMMT), Dr Mufti Qari Allie H Sheik, who served the EMMT for the past 13 years and is now relocating to Cape Town.
Dr Mufti Allie, the first South African Mufti (Juri’s consult) to enrol and complete the double Doctorate Programme (Dr of Literature and Dr of Philosophy) initially served as the academic researcher at the then Rand Afrikaans University (now the University of Johannesburg) and thereafter was inducted as the Rector of the International English College affiliated to the universities of London and Cambridge in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for six years.
Dr Mufti Allie is a prolific writer having authored, pioneered and presented breakthrough research papers in international scientific journals. He is also a dynamic orator, strict disciplinarian and a much loved and respected community leader.
Tasneem Sheik intends studying to become a Specialist Paediatrician at the University of Cape Town where her elder brother Dr Qari Mohammed Sheik, who also obtained eight As at Siratul Haq, is in the final stages of his medical internship at Stellenbosch Medical University.
Qari ismail Sheik, her second brother, will be completing his Doctoral Degree in accounting and business management shortly, in addition to qualifying as an Aalim and Qari.
The Estcourt community takes this opportunity in bidding farewell to Dr Mufti Allie Sheik and his family and expressing our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to him and his family. We also wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
