Another body recovered following desperate search

The search is continuing for the third child

The body of another child was found this morning below Craigside following the tragic washing away of three children on Thursday evening.

Preshu Singh, who has co-ordinated a search for the children, said the body was found near a clump of trees by a farm worker near the Vul’ndlela Bush Camp on the Ngisane Road.

The body is that of Kholeka Khumalo (5).

It was a triumphant weekend amid tragedy  for the community of Dundee as they came in their numbers in search of those who drowned during last weeks heavy storm. Nembile Security donated radios to help co-ordination and Sizowakhe Security gave out gumboots to make it easier for those who were searching wade through the mud.

Snethemba Nxumalo (31) is the woman who was found on Sunday near a river at Overdale farm on the Ngisane Road.

Dr Sakheni Ncube’s body was also discovered in the same area on Sunday – he worked at Dundee Hospital. Search and Rescue personnel from Ladysmith and Newcastle were on hand to assist.

Am 11-year-old girl was also found yesterday with the help of the community.

The search is continuing for the remaining child who was washed downstream when the river came down in flood.
