Baumann family lives out their biggest dream
Their goal is to reduce the numbers of abandoned and unwanted pets
Venesse and husband, Graham Baumann have opened up their home on African Splendour Farm, to run a registered Orphanage and Education Centre for animals.
Being strongly against the abuse of animals has inspired the couple to launch the Mission of Love Animal Orphanage and Education Centre. Gt, their two-year-old Weeper Capuchin, Marmoset monkeys Daisy, Gizmo and Goompi have also played a role in starting up Mission of Love. Some of the many animals they currently home are rabbits, crocodiles, birds, dogs, cats, pigs, a pony and goats.
“We want people to know that this is not an adoption centre, but a forever home for these animals. I want to invite people to come and see them all and teach them on how to care for them correctly,” Mrs Baumann said.
Their goal is to reduce the numbers of abandoned and unwanted pets, but this cannot work without participation, kindness, time and the love for animals.

“It affects a pet’s psychologically when they are neglected and moved from owner to owner. “Yes, animals are cute but they are expensive to look after, not just financially but would you offer up all your time to them? I want to make sure that they have what they need to be nurtured,” explained Mrs Baumann.
She also desires to share her knowledge with as many people as possible Mrs Baumann is currently hugely interested in housing exotic animals, which require permits to reside at the farm. She hopes for the Orphanage and Education Centre to act as a safe haven for animals and aims at school group visits to teach learners how to better understand and respect animals and hopefully curb animal abuse.
