ANC recalls President Zuma

"The decision by the NEC to recall its deployee was taken only after exhaustive discussion on the impact such a recall would have on the country, the ANC and the functioning of government," Mr Magashule said.

The ANC has officially recalled President Jacob Zuma despite his pleas to stay on.

The announcement was made by ANC Secretary General, Ace Magashule on Tuesday afternoon during a media briefing.

According to Mr Magashule, a special meeting was held on Monday night to reflect on the current situation pertaining to the position of the President of South Africa as well as in the interests of the country.

“The NEC noted that the president had agreed in principle to resign and had proposed time frames extending from three to six months,” he said.

“The decision by the NEC to recall its deployee was taken only after exhaustive discussion on the impact such a recall would have on the country, the ANC and the functioning of government,” Mr Magashule said.

Magashule said the party wants ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa to take over the top job.
