Love is in the air for the Scheepers

Mrs Scheepers wanted to add that whatever problems you face with your partner, be there for them as much as possible

Joan and Gert Scheepers celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary on Valentine’s Day. The couple made their way to the Estcourt Golf Club to enjoy a scrumptious dinner for two that evening.

15 years ago Mr and Mrs Scheepers got registered and to celebrate, they stopped by at the Valentine’s Dinner hosted at Shepstone Place Home for the Aged.

Mrs Scheepers said that it was just like a proper wedding reception.

“It was so special. My late mother was there, family and friends. There was good food and the wedding march was played for us,” she recalled fondly.

Every year since the couple would look forward to supporting the Valentine’s Dinner, until this year when sadly the Home did not host one. But the Scheepers will always have that memory etched within their hearts.

The two soul mates met years before, when Joan drew sketches of dams and had to hand over the drawings to Gert to build. Both had been previously married. When asked what their recipe for a strong marriage is they answered:

“Respect and support one another. Also try to do lots of activities together.”

Mrs Scheepers wanted to add that whatever problems you face with your partner, be there for them as much as possible.

“He has been such a wonderful grandfather, although he still thinks he is young, we will let him think he is! He makes me laugh and if you can laugh through tough times and still enjoy life you on the right path,” she advised delightfully.
