Sarel Cilliers hold their own against illustrious Durban visitors
A great come back by the Blue Lions against a team that attracts the cream of the crop of young rugby talent to its school

Sarel Cilliers’ first true grit when they held the strong Durban High School rugby team 0-14 in a game played in hot conditions in Glencoe.
After coming off from a 0-54 beating against Kearsney College from Durban on Wednesday, the Blue Lions were keen to show some of their legendary spirit. And it showed.

After conceding in the first 10 minutes, the score remained 0-7 to DHS until the visitors against crossed Sarel’s try line in what was the last move of the match. While the Blue Lions put in a huge defensive display, if the bounce of the ball had been kinder, they could have pulled off a shock win. Coaches, Steven Brown and Dave van der Westhuizen, were very pleased and knew what effort the boys had put in to bounce back from the devastating defeat against Kearsney.
As for DHS, they were generous in victory and admitted that it had been tough going. They too have a fairly new team that must gel ahead of the new season.
