BREAKING NEWS: Vryheid orphan beaten and raped by foster family

The man allegedly continued to bed the teen whenever he pleased.

An 18-year-old living with her adoptive family in Hlobane has finally found the strength to speak out about how she often had to choose between a merciless beating or being raped as punishment.

Opening a case at Vryheid SAPS, the young woman told police her parents had passed away when she was very young and she was then taken to an orphanage where she was cared for by social workers before being moved from one adoptive home to the next.

Life allegedly took a turn for the worst for this young woman when she was adopted by a family in the Hlobane area who is said to have mistreated and physically abused her.

Police sources confirmed that the young woman reported being beaten by her adoptive grandmother.

Having grown tired of giving the teen lashings, around August last year, the grandmother is said to have told the victim that she had to choose which one of her sons she was willing to have sexual intercourse with as her punishment.

After failing to make her choice, one of the sons is said to have volunteered to take up the task.

The man allegedly continued to bed the teen whenever he pleased since then.

The young woman finally cracked earlier this month and reported the matter to the Vryheid SAPS.

Her alleged rapist was arrested on Tuesday.

Under all the stress, the young woman’s health is said to have deteriorated drastically and police are hoping that this will improve with the assurance that her abuser is behind bars.
