Rivers subside as search for missing policeman, wife and friend continues

The families need closure and anyone with information on the whereabout of the missing trio is urged to come forward

The search has resumed today for missing police officer Warrant Officer Jakes Juggan, his wife, Molly, and friend Ashok Rajoo who are all in their mid-fifties.

The rivers and streams in and around the Tayside and Malonjeni areas have dropped significantly since Tuesday.

The trio went missing in Warrant Officer Juggan’s Nissan Navara patrol van last Friday evening. It is presumed that Warrant Officer Juggan who runs the Dundee SAPS Farm Watch in the rural areas had gone to check on the state of the rivers, along with his wife and friend.

They have not been seen or heard of since. An intensive search has been launched with police Search and Rescue teams from Pietermartizburg and Ladysmith joining police divers from Newcastle in the hope of locating them.

Their frantic families have combed the surrounding areas along with friends and volunteers.  A police helicopter flew down from Pretoria and local pilots have also assisted while farmers have flown their drones over the Buffalo and Sand River areas.

The last cellphone ‘pings’were recorded from the Gregory’s Neck cellphone tower and police earmarked an area near Landman’s Drift, Malonjeni, as the spot where their cellphones last had contact with a tower.

Police have requested a 205 from the Magistrate’s Court that will allow investigators to scan the last cellphone calls made to and from all three phones. Anyone with information is urged to contact their nearest police station as the families are desperate for closure.
