Public Safety officers help keep our roads safe over the Easter weekend

Public Safety officers were out in full force over the Easter weekend, keeping our roads safe with roadblocks.

The officers started with special operations on Thursday (March 29), which continued throughout the weekend.

Roadblocks were held all over town, making sure that all road users obey the laws of the road.

The officers checked to see if vehicles were roadworthy, also checking that driver’s licences were up to date and not expired.

All motorists who were stopped were given a Breathalyzer test to see if they were over the blood-alcohol limit.

During the special operations, a total of 14 drunken drivers were arrested and 81 traffic fines were handed out.

A total of 27 warrants of arrest were executed and 1 vehicle was suspended.

The officers also confiscated one illegal light.
