Sarel Lions Triumph at Kings Park

This week is a busy week with trials for the u/16, u/18 and u/19 rugby boys and a fixture away against Newcastle High next Saturday. Good luck to all teams.

The first team was invited to play the main curtain raiser for the Sharks and Bulls against Port Natal High School at Kings Park on Saturday. In a very tense and exciting rugby game, Sarel had to dig deep, especially on defense in the last five minutes, to secure a win of 20-15. Well done, boys!

Hockey Boys Beat Voortrekker 
On Saturday the boys’ hockey team played against Voortrekker in Pietermaritzburg. They were on fire and when the final whistle blew the score was 6-1 in our favour!

Sport against Ladysmith High
The rest of the sports teams took on Ladysmith High on Friday. Sarel’s hockey teams excelled and won all their matches, except the first team who drew 1-1.
All the rugby teams performed extremely well and scores were impressively victorious. Well done to all the teams for winning, especially the u/16 team who had a very tough game and yet managed to pull through with a win. Chess
The Sarel Cilliers chess team took on Ladysmith High School on Friday, April 13. The day looked like it would end up in a draw as both teams had 3.5 points each, heading to the final game of the day. Unfortunately, the Ladysmith player won the game. Final score 4.5 – 3.5 in favour of Ladysmith High School. Well done to all players. It was a tough battle until the end.
