Sarel Cilliers checkmate Newcastle High

Sarel Cilliers Chess team took on worthy opponents Newcastle High School on Saturday, April 21. They faced an unbeaten Newcastle side and managed to end their winning streak for the year, coming out victors, with a final score of 5-3.
The chess team also played against Amajuba on Wednesday, April 18. Sarel Cilliers clinched the day winning 3-2.

Rugby
Sarel Cilliers Rugby Lions undertook the trek to Newcastle High School on Saturday, April 21. As always, Newcastle proved to be a worthy opponent and although all of the matches were hard fought, the rugby teams made a clean sweep. The scores were as follows: u/14 win 17-0, u/15 win 19-0 and u/16 win 29-20.
The first team had a tough opponent and from the outset it was deemed to be a massive match between these two great rugby forces in NKZN.
The final score was 39-26 in the favour of the Sarel Blue Lions. Congratulations on a fabulous performance and good luck for the next round of fixtures after the long weekend.
Hockey
U/16 had a 5-0 win and the first boys’ team won 2-0.
Netball
Sarel Cilliers’ first and second netball teams had a busy week, playing matches on Wednesday, against Amajuba High school, and on Saturday against Newcastle High school. On Wednesday both teams welcomed a huge win. On Saturday, however, they didn’t have the same luck. Both teams, unfortunately, lost their games. U/14A won against Amajuba 19-6, but lost 14-27 against Newcastle High. It was an excellent match though. U/14B lost 1- 9, u/15A lost 11-19 and u/15B lost 5-14.
Redenaars
Die Afrikaanse redenaars het Maandag deelgeneem aan die Radikale Redenaars kompetisie in Newcastle. Hulle het baie by die blootstelling gebaat en is vuur en vlam om aan nog sulke kompetisies deel te neem. Janz Potgieter, Charné Stoop, Zander Joubert, Nicole Johnson het almal A- en Bianca Hunlun en Abbegail van der Merwe het B- behaal. Sarel Cilliers is trots op julle. Dit sit nie in enigeen se broek om voor mense te praat nie!
