Child porn accused convicted on 356 counts
The children's evidence was heard in camera

A 35-year-old artisan from Newcastle has been found guilty on 350 counts of child pornography, two counts of statutory rape, two counts of grooming children (for sexual activity) and two counts of instructing another person to use children for child pornography.
The graphic details emerged in the Newcastle Regional Court where Magistrate Colditz heard how Nicolaas van Helsdingen (35) was involved in pornography for a number of years.
The children’s evidence was heard in camera as was the evidence of the cyber-crime experts when footage was shown of the porn. Last week’s judgement was done in open court as will be the sentence on May 29. Marion Willis-Smith who resides in Dundee was the prosecutor in the case.
