PHOTO GALLERY: Cruisers MCC Blanket Run a roaring success

SATURDAY morning saw the parking lot of a local supermarket abuzz with the beautiful roar of motorcycle engines as bikers gathered from near and far for the Cruisers MCC Blanket Run.

Entrants in the run paid their way with blankets and cash donations between 9:30am and 11:30am, when they loaded their collection and headed for the AfriForum Helping Hand Community Centre at the corner of Heeren and High Streets, assisted by the local traffic department.

When they arrived, they were welcomed by Boet and Albina Janse van Rensburg and, after the handover, done by Cruisers’ Vice President, Buks Maree, they invited the crew of generous motorcyclists, who travelled from as far as Newcastle, Dundee, Paulpietersburg, Glencoe and Piet Retief for a tour of the community centre.

“We would like to thank everyone who took part in the Cruisers MCC Blanket Run and made it a success,” said Cruisers MCC President, Carel Burger. “Thank you to those who travelled from far to join us and to the local bikers and community members who supported this initiative. We are grateful to the local traffic department as well, who assisted us on the mass ride to the community centre. To everyone who participated, know that your contributions will make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate this winter.”
