Motorists should expect delays while the march is in progress.
Newcastle motorists are advised to take note of a student march currently taking place in parts of the central business district and surrounding areas.
According to Newcastle Municipality, the procession is expected to affect traffic flow along several key routes.

Key routes experience disruptions
The following roads are expected to experience delays and congestion:
- Allen Street (past Farmers Hall)
- Hardwick Street
- Albert Wessels Road
- Surrounding roads leading to the Majuba Technical and Vocational Education and Training Central Office at the corner of Albert Wessels Road and Allen Street
The municipality says that motorists should exercise caution, anticipate delays and make use of alternative routes where possible.
Municipality urges patience and caution
“Traffic officers have been deployed to assist with traffic management and ensure the safety of both road users and pedestrians,” the municipality said in a statement.
Members of the public are encouraged to remain patient, co-operate with law enforcement officials on site, and avoid affected areas unless travel is essential.
“The municipality will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary,” the statement concluded.
