Estcourt’s Municipality is ‘cleaning up’ and not ‘illegally dumping’

The municipality has responded by claiming that their staff was not dumping but actually removing illegally dumped waste

Last week the Estcourt News published a photo snapped by a resident, who said that municipal officials were seen illegally dumping in Bank Road.

Since illegal dumping is an eyesore in Estcourt, the resident wanted to find out why Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality had resorted to illegally dumping despite their repeated warnings against this practice.

Responding to the resident’s concerns, the municipality has responded by claiming that their staff was not dumping but actually removing illegally dumped waste.

“Kindly be advised that our duties include, but are not limited to, eradication of illegal dumping. The affected employee has been engaged about this matter and he has advised that he was collecting refuse bags that were illegally dumped by an unknown offender,” explained Municipal Manager Mr Mkhize.
