Estcourt’s radio station temporarily off air

Some locals reported that they no longer could access Radio Lotus on the 90.00 frequency, instead they would be tuning into Ukhahlamba Community Radio 89.9FM

It’s been almost a month since Estcourt’s own radio station Ukhahlamba Community Radio 89.9FM was launched.
However due to a frequency modulation inconsistency, the radio station is temporarily off air.

This came about when some locals reported that they no longer could access Radio Lotus on the 90.00 frequency, instead they would be tuning into Ukhahlamba Community Radio 89.9FM.

This upset some locals who called the Estcourt News to say that the ‘new radio station had kicked out Radio Lotus.’

This is not the case and the station management has informed the Estcourt News that this concern has been brought to the attention of Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA).
