‘Uthukela District Municipality does not care’

These were the words of Mr Hadebe, the homeowner at 5 Richmond Road. This comes after months of frustration and numerous efforts to have a water leak repaired.

A water leak near the road side surfaced in January and has been plaguing Mr Hadebe ever since.

The visibly annoyed man explained that water has been collecting in his premises, attracting mosquitoes and leaving behind an unpleasant smell. “The water trickles down the road into my driveway causing damage to the driveway and the garage in my yard,” said Mr Hadebe.

He has made several efforts to have the pipe fixed but to date no resolution has been reached.

He recalls uThukela District Municipality officials visiting the affected area and before they left, told him they ran out of the pipe required to repair the water leak.

Mr Hadebe’s concerns have been relayed to UThukela Municipality.
