Broken streetlights leave Ladysmith residents in darkness

Residents have taken to social media with their complaints, saying that they are left in darkness without streetlights

Ladysmith is faced with many problems such as potholes, overgrown grass and filthy streets, and the town also faces another big problem…

That problem is streetlights that don’t work in many areas of town.

Residents have taken to social media with their complaints, saying that they are left in darkness.

Streets such as Jantha Crescent, Dianthus Road and Camillia Lane are just some of the many roads where streetlights do not work.

One motorists said that Jantha Crescent is without streetlights because a car crashed through a light pole on Saturday evening (May 12).

It is believed that many of the Electricity Department staff are part of the ongoing municipal strike that is currently taking place in Ladysmith.

Residents say that without streetlights, they are vulnerable to crime, as they can easily be targeted by opportunistic criminals when they arrive home in the dark.

Residents want answers and demand that their streetlights get fixed, as they pay their rates and taxes each month for these services.
