Budding artists show off their work at exhibition

An amazing exhibition called ‘Art with a purpose’ was held last week

An amazing exhibition called ‘Art with a purpose’ was held on Wednesday and Thursday last week, hosted in the Egerton Primary School Hall.

The doors opened at 5pm on Wednesday, with platters and drinks available for both adults and children to enjoy.

Art teacher and exhibition organiser Avril Wilkinson also provided what she called an ‘Inspiration Table’, on which was art materials and paper that could be used by children if they got bored.

The art that was displayed was the work of Avril’s students from Grade R to 7, who take lessons with her once a week. The students were eager to answer questions and show off their ‘masterpieces’.

The artwork, both 2D and 3D, was enjoyed by all those who attended. Many of Avril’s own paintings were also displayed, as well as the end-of-term group work done by the children.

The exhibition was open all day on Thursday for those who missed out on the opening.

Avril hopes this exhibition will help grow her classes and reach more children and families.
