Fiery protests spark road closure between Vryheid and Dundee

According to reports by the Courier, "the main road just after Dundee Secondary, Watt Road and the Tayside intersection have all been barricaded by trees across the road and burning tyres."

ANGRY protesters have taken to the streets of Dundee this morning, burning tyres and trees, blocking off roads in a hostile attempt to have their voices heard.

According to reports by our sister paper, the Northern Natal Courier, the enraged and frustrated community members say “they were promised houses, schools and tar roads among other things, but that none of the promises were kept by the municipality…”

 

Amid the chaos, police presence was spread thin as another violent protest was underway outside Dundee Junior Secondary School.
