Mayor Richard Mbatha is currently appearing in a packed courtroom in Estcourt as his bail application takes place.
The Mayor appears to be in good spirits.
He will be represented by Adv Cyril Simphiwe Mlotshwa while Magistrate Sam Mpungose will oversee the bail application.
The Mayor and two other men, including an Estcourt Councillor, are to appear on a charge of plotting to kill Endumeni Speaker, Bongiwe Mbatha-Makathini.
