It’s official.
Dr Sandy Bedassi is now the Acting Mayor of Endumeni Municipality.
The meeting resumed following an adjournment by Cllr Mahaye in which he asked for legal opinion regarding the matter.
COGTA confirmed that even though the Mayor was incarcerated, he could write a letter delegating his powers to a fellow EXCO member.
Cllr Mahaye, however, reiterated that council was in this position because Endumeni never elected a Deputy Mayor in 2016 and showed arrogance by not debating motions tabled to this affect by the ANC.
