Ladysmith has been plagued by potholes and streets turning into dirt roads because of the said massive potholes, but there seems to be some progress being made.
Workers are currently tarring the intersection of Quality Street and Madras Road. This has been happening over the past two weeks.
This new progress is a ray of light for residents and motorists, showing that things can be fixed after years of complaints coming from the community.

One motorist commented on the matter by saying, “This is great. I have driven on the road and it feels fantastic. There isn’t a single bump to avoid or a pothole to dodge.”
Another motorist saw a Ladysmith Gazette journalist at the site where the road is being fixed and said that it’s good to see them doing some work. However, just up the road in Main Road, none of the major potholes are being attended to, with the potholes getting bigger day by day.
IFP councillor Abbas Warasally also commented on the roads being fixed, saying that it’s good news. “I hope that all the roads in Ladysmith can be fixed so that motorists can drive safely and freely in town.”
