The beginning of May was a great start for Ladysmith Secondary School (Lasec) regarding the Youth Citizen Action Programme (YCAP).
The YCAP team participated at district level and emerged victorious, taking first place. They will now go on to represent the Uthukela district at provincial level.
The team was ecstatic and are now determined to work harder than ever.
The YCAP team from Lasec have faced many challenges as they have gone about creating their school garden, which will be used to provide healthy meals for the learners at the school.

The team plans to use hydroponics to grow their vegetables. They say that hydroponics is a method of using water and chemicals instead of soil to grow plants. It is also a renewable way of planting crops.
The school hopes that they succeed in their mission to improve the lives of the learners at Lasec.
Well done to them and good luck for the next round of the competition.
