PREVIEW: Taxi Council gives back to Newcastle’s children
According to programme director, Mrs JJ Ntuli, the project was aimed at helping children improve their education, by providing them with the necessary tools to help them in their school careers.
On May 29, the Amajuba Regional Taxi Council (ARTC) in conjunction with the South African Taxi Council (SANTACO) and the Newcastle Municipality, hosted a charity drive to donate school clothing to children in impoverished areas.

The initiative was first started in 2015, when 50 school uniforms were donated to 50 children from Newcastle.
This year, the six local taxi associations which make up the ARTC, gathered at the Richview Civic Hall, to donate more than 300 school uniforms to learners from 20 schools in and around Newcastle.
According to programme director, Mrs JJ Ntuli, the project was aimed at helping children improve their education, by providing them with the necessary tools to help them in their school careers.

“Learning is difficult and challenging, but the fruits are very sweet. Everyone can taste it if you persevere,” she explained.
The project was a great success and a true testament to SANTACO’s mission to empower operations through the maximisation of development and economic opportunities.
