Saying farewell after years of service

The event saw many colleagues giving moving speeches about what Shezi means to them and the legacy he will leave behind

Our community is full of everyday people who sacrifice their time to do a job that keeps the community safe.
One of these people is S. Sibusiso Shezi, who is the Principal Provincial Inspector at Ladysmith Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI).

Shezi has dedicated 24 years of his life to his job as an RTI officer and describes it as his dream job.

Fellow RTI staff recently gathered at Ladysmith Motel to bid him farewell and wish him a relaxing retirement.

Also present at the send-off was the Deputy Director of Road Safety, who delivered a speech in which he thanked Shezi for all he has done.

Shezi was escorted in by whooping sirens from the RTI cars and cheering from his colleagues.

The event saw many colleagues giving moving speeches about what Shezi means to them and the legacy he will leave behind as he embarks on his retirement.

It was an emotional day for Shezi, who says he will miss not only helping the community but also the people who have become his close friends.

Some could be seen trying to hold back the tears.

Shezi received gifts, which everyone at the station contributed towards.

After the speeches, he had the opportunity to cut his farewell cake.

Lunch was served and everyone was able to socialise and have a good time.
