R4 million road to be built in Ladysmith

Responding to the community, the mayor clarified the issue and gave assurance that a road will be built in the area

Alfred Duma Local Municipality recently held a community meeting in the Dalinkosi area (Ward 31), under Councillor Khulu.

The meeting took place as a result of the community receiving response to their complaints in the area.

Mayoral Office manager Mr BJ Xaba, who was the chairperson of the meeting, read the letter that had been addressed to the mayor and from there, the meeting dealt with responses and discussions.

One of the major outcries was to do with a road that was supposed to have been constructed in the Kwa Mnangeni area and was instead built at Somshoek in the same ward.

Responding to the community, the mayor clarified the issue and gave assurance that a road will be built in the area.

The road project at Mnangeni and Dalinkosi is budgeted at R4 million. The road will have a starting point at P32 to the Dalikosi area and will be 4.3 kilometres. Construction will begin in July this year.
