A massive pothole in Madras Road that people say is “practically big enough to swallow a car” has still not been fixed by the municipality.
The pothole is at the intersection of Madras Road and Quality Street, an area that sees lots of traffic on a daily basis.
Motorists approached IFP councillor Abbas Warasally and asked him for help to have the problem solved.
Motorists add that the tyres and rims on their cars are at risk of being damaged if they drive into the offending pothole, and that they now drive in the oncoming lane to avoid the danger.

What residents don’t understand is that tarring work is being done in Quality Street, yet the potholes don’t get fixed.
“What will happen if our vehicles get damaged? Who is willing to pay the cost for repairs to be done?” lamented one motorists who travels that route regularly.
