UPDATE: Official from Premier’s office addresses crowd

Organisers are now voicing their grievances to official

An official from the Premier’s office has just arrived at the Endumeni Municipality and is receiving the memorandum from the organisers of the protest.

Among the issues raised on the memorandum are housing delays, corruption, appointments of people unfairly at the Municipality, the passing of the budget and the unfair rates increases.

Protesters originally threatened to sleep outside the municipality until someone received their memo.

Earlier police fired tear gas on the group who refused to vacate the area, despite only having permission to host a ‘peaceful protest’ until 2pm.
