With the origins of Ladysmith done and dusted in part 1 of this series, it’s time to move on.
What better place to start than the Siege Museum that is found right here in town near the municipal offices.
Ladysmith Siege Museum is renowned for being one of the best Anglo-Boer War museums in the whole of South Africa.
Countless tourists and enthusiasts have walked through its halls to get a glimpse of the history displayed.

The museum was built in 1884 and was at first a market house from which many civilians got their rations during the siege.
There are also the original flagstone floors and cast-iron pillars that were incorporated during construction.
If anyone enjoys history or is even planning a day out, this is certainly a must-see.
