Thick black smoke envelopes industrial area

Flames being fanned by a strong wind

Smoke is again hanging over Dundee but this time it is not as a result of a protest.  The fire brigade rushed to the industrial area this afternoon and a veld fire set alight a truck and plastic waste from adjacent to a recycling plant.

Police on scene said the fire started after children, playing with matches, accidentally set the veld alight. The flames are being fanned by a pre-fontal Berg wind.  Volunteers are also assisting to dampen down the stacks of stored cardboard.
