The Moorleigh Lutheran Church was the centre of attention on Saturday when the bi-annual basaar was held.

New as well as familiar faces were part of the large crowd that had joined the church congregation to support the fundraiser.

Up for sale were the popular German delicacies that included butterkuchen, mettwurst, a large variety of cakes, breads and biscuits, meat products and plants. To keep the children entertained, an activities area was set up. At 1pm a hearty lunch was served.

Shortly before the stalls opened, a prayer and welcome was delivered by Pastor Elke Carrihill. At 2pm the stalls were opened and within minutes the assortment of goodies were sold.

A raffle draw was held thereafter. George van Niekerk won the Nestle hamper and Leigh Fortmann won the German hamper.

The meat stall is always popular at the basaar.
