JUST IN: Pilot injured as crop sprayer crashes in the Midlands
Paramedics had to use the “Jaws of Life” to extricate the pilot who was trapped inside the mangled wreck of the aircraft
A pilot in his 40’s has been airlifted to hospital following a crash which occurred near Dargle in the Midlands this morning.

“Paramedics from several ambulance services responded to the scene earlier this morning, where the light aircraft had crashed into the side of a hill. Paramedics and rescuers, assisted by local farmers, had to climb down the steep and rocky hill to access the aircraft. Paramedics worked together to treat the critically injured pilot, of the single seat aircraft,” explained KZN Emergency Medical Service spokesperson Robert Mckenzie.
Paramedics had to use the “Jaws of Life” to extricate the pilot who was trapped inside the mangled wreck of the aircraft.
“The pilot was stabilised at the scene before being transported to hospital by helicopter for continued medical care,” added Mr Mckenzie.

The circumstances resulting in the aeroplane crashing are not known at this stage and will be investigated by authorities.
