37 years later… the class of ’81 reunites
Seventeen old scholars from the year 1981 and eleven of DHS educators attended the reunion.
The Dundee High Matric Class of 1981 got together for a reunion during the last weekend in May.
These get-togethers cause trepidation within some – will my mates remember me? Will I remember them?!
Dundee is so far away from everything…especially from Australia!
Life, accommodation and travelling have become so expensive and busy. Should I or should I not attend?
Well, the ones who did decide to join the reunion were so happy that they took on this journey, Bruce Allen even came all the way from Australia!
Seventeen old scholars from the year 1981 and eleven of DHS educators attended the reunion.
“Old scholars from other years also joined us and it was a privilege to have them with us,” said Hannelie Raffenberg, one of those who attended, who is currently herself a teacher at DHS.
The fact that so many of our educators went through so much trouble to attend the weekend, was precious and we were just reminded of the incredible roles they all played in our lives over the years.
“We reminisced, recalled events and people, laughed as if we were 18 again and talked non-stop. Nobody wanted to go home and the late nights were the order of the day.
We visited the beautiful school buildings, had tea together, took photos and walked around the passages and the grounds of Dundee High School.
Everybody agreed that they were pleasantly surprised by how well the school is maintained. Unfortunately, the time came for us to say goodbye.
“But we all realised that love ruled among us, that we all came closer to one another and that we would like to have another reunion in three years’ time. We hope that the rest of our group will join us then. All glory to God for keeping us well and caring for us through all times.”
