Vryheid stunner lands modelling contract

Locals may be seeing Zama in the adverts of various brands very soon.

WITH a dazzling smile and the confidence to go with, its really no surprise that Vryheid’s Zama Xaba made it into the top 10 for the Face of Just You competition.

The local stunner is still shocked herself, having made it to the number eight position with the help of locals that voted to keep her in the competition.

“People were really supportive, I would meet people I didn’t even know out in the streets of Vryheid and they would tell me that they were voting for me. It was really heart-warming,” she said with a smile.

Although she did not end up snatching that Face of Just You prize, Zama was fortunate enough to land her very first modelling contract.

“On the night when the official winner would be announced I was encouraged to just network and socialise and that really paid off as one of the agents took a shine to me and I was invited to attend a workshop that would be held for models in Johannesburg,” she recalls with a smile.

Right after the workshop, Zama was handed her first modelling contract and signed up.

“I unfortunately was not considered for the runway category as I am too short,” she laughed.

She was, however, chosen for the commercial side and locals may be seeing her face in the adverts of various brands very soon.

“Of course there is still a lot of work that needs to be done. This is only the beginning. I now have to go to audition after audition and hopefully, that will eventually pay off,” she said enthusiastically.

Zama would like to thank all the members of the community who showed her support through her journey.

“I am now at the beginning of my modelling career and it is all thanks to you. Your votes were not in vain and I am grateful to every single one of you,” she said.

In closing, Zama said that she would like to encourage local young people to work hard and pursue what their hearts truly desire. She did, and now doors are opening.
