Two weeks after the first protest march hit town, the carnage can still be seen around town. Street signs are down and remains of burnt tyres dot the route of the marchers who have twice in the past two weeks vented their anger at the Endumeni Municipality over perceived corruption, the backlog of housing, high service charges and other issues.

Anthon Raubenheimer, a DA Endumeni Councillor, said he had done a spot check in the area around Bulwer, Colley and Tatham Streets and was appalled to discover that many street signs are still on the ground.

“This a very dangerous situation especially for visitors to Dundee who may be unfamiliar with the roads. To have signs down at four-way stop could lead to a huge accident, loss of lives and the municipality could be liable for damages. I will be asking the traffic and Technical Department to ensure that the situation is rectified as soon as possible,” said Councillor Raubenheimer.
