In the second loudest taxi in South Africa, brothers Mdu and Vusi Nkosi are increasing their love of automotive sound one decibel at a time.

In 2007, Vusi purchased a Toyota HiAce and this was the first step towards the brothers establishing themselves on the South African car sound stage.

The Nkosi brothers have since clinched more than five awards in the van they dubbed Zeus, their proudest accomplishment being receiving the award for the second loudest sound system.

Through their competitive history, the Nkosi brothers also met local enthusiast Terence Chetty, a director at Supersonic, who assisted them in improving Zeus’s systems.

“Terence helped us a lot. He gave us innovative ideas.”

Ahead of the highly anticipated annual Show Off Your Ride Car Show, which takes place on August 4, the Nkosi brothers said they were looking forward to showcasing Zeus again.

According to Mdu, car shows like Show Off Your Ride brought about a sense of unity and camaraderie among participants and enthusiasts.

“We are one big family. Once we stand united, no one can conquer us.”
