Vryheid cops clamp down on copper theft and drugs

Vryheid SAPS successfully apprehended two suspects in connection with drug possession, as well as one suspect in possession of stolen copper.

 

SEVERAL arrests were made recently as Vryheid SAPS successfully apprehended two suspects in connection with drug possession, as well as one suspect in possession of stolen copper.

On August 16, a taxi was pulled over by police between Mondlo and Vryheid. 207 straws of heroin were discovered in the vehicle. Two suspects were subsequently arrested.

Another suspect was arrested and relieved of a bag containing 15 bundles of burnt copper cable, believed to have been stolen from next to a railway line. The suspect was apprehended at a local scrapyard where he was believed to have been attempting to sell the stolen loot.
