JUST IN: Man seriously injured after being attacked in CBD
The victim is currently in a serious but stable condition.
A man was severely injured after he was assaulted on the corner of Kirkland and Allen Streets on Friday evening (September 7).
According to Jan Henk van Vuuren from WATCO Emergency Medical Services, they were alerted by a member of Newcastle 911 about a man laying on the side of the road.
“Initially it was believed the man had succumbed to his injuries and was in the arms of his brother who was with him at the time of the attack.”
Resuscitation efforts were immediately started and the man was revived.
He was then rushed to a local hospital where he is currently in a serious but stable condition.
SAPS were on scene to investigate the exact circumstances around the attack.
