Craft burger initiative whips up a culinary storm in the name of charity

Randeree explained Lego's Burgers makes no profit for itself, but instead benefits the community.

Talha Randeree and Ashraf Vahed are setting up a pop-up craft burger stall called Lego’s Burgers, which aims to bring that sense of ‘home’ and the concept of craft dining to the local community.

“Burgers in my opinion are some of the most homely meals. When everything is made by hand it just adds such a refined element to it. I can still remember family nights, when my mother would whip out her grill and the whole family would help out preparing the burgers and the toppings. We realised there was no other place in town offering handcrafted burgers and we thought we would try it out, by starting with a pop-up food stall to cultivate an institution of craft burgers,” said Randeree.

Randeree explained Lego’s Burgers makes no profit for itself, but instead benefits the community.

The duo launched their pop-up burger stall at the recent Six-a-Side Cricket Tournament at the Arbor Park Sports Grounds, with all funds generated on the night going towards the Newcastle and District Cricket Association (NDCA).

Asked what the purpose of their cause was, Randeree said it was giving food lovers a taste of nostalgia through means of a painstakingly handmade meal, all the while knowing the profit from said meal would go towards good local causes.

Lego’s Burgers is also open to aiding any organisation.

“Whoever needs our help is welcome to partner up with us and we will raise funds on their behalf, whether it’s organisations, NPOs, schools or businesses. Our goal is to use the food stall as a means of helping those in need.”
